So, the other night my 3 year old was going to bed and asked
me to “snuggle.”
While snuggling, she suddenly said,
“Daddy?”
“Yeah?” I asked.
“I love you really much.”
(Oh, my goodness! That’s the best thing in the world!)
“I love you really much too,
Stella.”
Then she asked, “What’s for
breakfast?”
Huh?
Did you ever feel like not praying because you thought it
wouldn’t sound right or your ‘prayer’ would seem stupid? Just think: you’re Stella. And God is, well, me…in the story at least! My heart was so delighted in my little girl’s
words, even when her words of love were followed up by a random query about
breakfast.
Today, when you talk to your Abba Father, remember that He
delights in you and your words when you talk to Him even more than I can
delight in my own child. I love these
words from Hebrews 4:16 “Approach the throne of grace with confidence.”
you know, I really like this...the way you put it just really makes me think.

I also feel like this shows how God yearns for our attention...he's a jealous God.
It's like when you're at church...we're SUPPOSE to give God our full attention, but do we? No. Maybe part of the time. The rest of the time our minds start drifting off into other thoughts. "What are we having for lunch?"... "I'm really hungry."... "Has that painting always been on that wall?"... "is it warm in here or is it just me?"... "This dress shirt is really annoying."
He gets so excited and happy when we have those special moments with him...when we give up our time to talk to him (I would be if the person I loved was giving me their attention)but when we let our selves get distracted I feel like God is almost hurt by that...he has feelings, too. We put him on the back burner too often. EVERYONE is guilty of that, but that's why we're called human.
You are right on. Everything began to change for me when I began to understand God's 'personhood.' It helped me see what He really wants too. He wants to relate to me.
DeletePlus, it chills me out. I can look at my kids and get their weaknesses because I know them and I know that they're limited in understanding. God does the same for us. He knows when it's time to push us and when it's time to just grin and find it funny.
